Just getting started on this site so forgive me if this subject has been discussed to death but i am looking to restore my boat and need to start by finding some one to redo the gelcoat top and bottom at a reasonable price.I live in Westchester county about an hour north of nyc and can trailer the boat to a reasonable distance. Id appreciate any info any body has.

Thanks

(fixed 4 digit year and model)

Not that this matters for Gelcoat, but you are giving us two different models to choose from.

1. Sport
2. Sourpuss

Can't be two models at the same time.

Which 1971 model do you have?

Thank you. After reading into it it would be a 1971 Sourpuss. Any insight into the gel coat question?

Not sure about your area, but best bet would be to call around to some places and get a price. A lot depends on how much prep work needs to be done. Is it a bare hull? Can you dismantle the interior remove the outboard etc? Most of the cost is in prep work and sanding and fairing and sanding. Its also a tough time of year to start projects like this as most shops are gearing up for spring commissioning so it might cost more just because spring.

Best info someone told me about my restore was take the amount of time and money you think it will take/cost and just double it. Much more realistic.

Good luck!

I buffed and waxed the interior and painted the outside of the hull. No new gelcoat
