I had a 13 Whaler when I was a kid and sold it....boy was that dumb!
I've just purchased another one to use as a "get around" for my 42 Post.
The date on the Title says 1960?? Is that correct, I didn't think Whalers were around back then. It definitely is a 13 foot Whaler although unfortunately it's not in pristine condition, but we are working on it.
I paid $600 for it and the trailer, no motor. did I do alright?

Welcome Aboard WhalerCentral....
Next year, 2008, is the 50th Anniversary for Boston Whaler.
So yes, the first Whaler was produced in 1958....

Welcome aboard Captain Fred.
$600 for a 13 footer with a trailer sounds pretty good - Its really hard to say as there are so many out there in so many stages of disrepair.
You do not see many selling that low though.
Good luck with the project. Post up some pics.

sounds good to me. i just sold my 13 and that was a sad day. i fished in waters i should not have. i'm ok but many thought i was off. pound for pound the best boat i ever fished. i would take her to the flemish cap! i never seen a boat so stable and floots like a duck.
she is worth fixing. i'm ok. i sold my 13 to buy an "old whale tale". a 19' 1974 outrage. now i will go to the flemish cap!

Yep, you did well (lets see some pics), I've seen 13's for that much $ with no motor or trailer (15 years ago). I am thinking of eventually buying a 17' Montauk but, that would mean having to part with my 15' sport, I don't think that I could do that, It's like "Pee wee's Bicycle to me. I get emotionally attached to inanimate objects, " Whalers. Mustang GT's, Full size pin ball machines in the living room" (mrs. MW just LOVES THAT).
Good Luck ! You have GREAT support on W/C for fixing her up, "NO PROBLEM" !

Thanks gang,
I'm looking at a Mercury 25 hp 4 stroke for it. I'll post some pictures when I get a chance.

I just found my 13' in central KS. It took me 2 years, but I finally found it. I paid $600 and that included boat, trailer, and 20 hp Chrysler o/b. The motor still runs and the boat isn't in bad shape at all cleaned the carb and it goes like mad. I plan on upgrading the motor to a new 4-stroke between 25 and 40 hp. I believe mine is a 1969, but can't find any HID numbers anywhere.
Now I have a winter project!

Did you check for a stenciled number in the front well? Might be there....

Nice find! On my 1968 13 the HIN is on the inside of the transom between the motor and the port side near the deck.

Nice buy,
You did better than I did that's for sure.
But we love our "Di's Dingy" to death. (our 42 Post is named "Diane Marie"
Got a new 25 hp. 4 stoke Mercury short shaft and she runs fine with 3 people. Flies with just me.
Wife has made all new cushions for it, carpet runner on the floor and we are ready to fish the shallows around home.
PS. My wife and I own a Marine Canvas Business and I get all the goodies, cushions, covers, bimininininiiis, etc. LOL
