Have you checked to see whether you have a spark in each cylinder?

I had a similar problem in a 1986 Johnson 2 stroke. The engine appears to idle fine, but has no power when the throttle is advanced.

It is not uncommon for the ignition coils or power pack to go bad over time. The ignition coils can be tested visually with an inline spark plug tester and with the ohms setting on a multimeter. If the spark plugs and ignition coils are good, many times the power pack has failed. Fortunately, ignition coils (<$30) and power packs (<$75) are readily available online.

could also check the fuel delivery side, assuring no collapsed fuel lines (ethanol induced fuel line failure), fuel filter or fuel tank vent clogged.

Allan, was the motor running normally and then all of a sudden started bogging down? Or did it get worse gradually over time?

If you can give some additional information it will make it much easier to diagnose the problem - it could be almost anything at this point, and there's no sense spending time and money on guesses as to what might be wrong.

Did you do a link and sync following the carb work you did?

First I would get a remote 6 gallon tank with fresh gas and new fuel lines. If it acts the same you can eliminate fuel tank, lines and filters not on motor.

Check the filter on the motor to be sure it is clean and not leaking. With the cowl off squeeze the fuel bulb and look for leaks at any places on the motor side. I had a tiny crack in the plastic mount where the filter screws on.

When you cleaned the carbs did you replace all the jets?

If possible run the motor under load in gear and with the air box off use a clean rag to choke one carb at a time. If it causes no change that is the problem carb. I am able to do this with the boat on the lift with the stern lower so I do not have to be underway.

Also while idling on muffs, pull one plug wire at a time. No change = problem cylinder. I am betting fuel delivery or carb issue.
