My beautiful 17 Super Sport Limited has a Johnson/Suzuki 90 four stroke motor. Very nice; super quiet and smooth.
I'm looking to install a trolling motor. In interest of keeping the weight down, I've thought of a nice electric motor. Found a fairly new electric rated at 74# of thrust (24VDC) Any ideas on how well this would work on the Whaler?
If it's not enough power, what size gas trolling motors are being used on 17's?
Thanks!
Ted

Decided to stick with a gas, not electric motor. Considering she has a Suzuki / Johnson 90 four stroke (read: not light...) I'm interested in opinions on which nice little outboard would be good for lake trolling & back up power in case of main engine failure.
