Late getting to my Outrage this year and the 13 month old marine battery (12.6V before starting) would get past the first compression stroke but not the second. Jumped from the idling car and it spun normally.
Battery voltage at the solenoid and 0.3 ohms between the battery post and solenoid lug, so the cable seems OK. Tried a spare battery, ~12.3V, and the starter spun but the pinon/bendix wouldn't go high enough to engage.
Pulled the starter and it has a slight rumble with direct power. Energized solenoid has 3.0 ohms across the main terminals - don't know what normal would be.
Taking the battery in for a load test.
I see starters from $62 on Amazon to $200 at marine stores, any recommendations? Thinking of the Amazon choice while having the current starter rebuilt.
