I have a 1987 Evinrude 225, E225TXCUB on my 1984 Outrage 22. I've been trying to track down a very intermittent starting problem (intermittently won't crank) and in the process I damaged the 20 amp fuse holder on the port side of my engine. The connection was brittle (ironically, the fuse was intact) and when I opened the fuse holder, I inadvertently tore out the wire that connects to the top ring of the fuse holder. Is there any way to correct this (splice a new fuse holder?).
The fuse seems extraordinarily seated in the fuse holder, and it may in fact be corroded together. Advice welcome!

You can still buy the wire harness (#15 Engine cable assembly at $240.00) but it looks like you can get to each side of the fuse holder to cut and splice in a new marine style water proof version. I would try that first.
I have that exact 1987 Evinrude 225 completely rebuilt from the flywheel to the skeg waiting to mount on my 1980 22 foot Revenge I'm rebuilding. How does your boat handle with that motor? Out of the hole and top end speed?
Thanks, Vance. That is what I decided to do. I will splice in a new waterproof fuse holder. I didn't want to end up buying and replacing the entire wiring harness.
My motor is original, never rebuilt, but many electrical replacements (stator, flywheel, rectifier, power packs, re-glued magnets in flywheel, etc.). Rebuilt the carbs last year. Now running well--but need to get this latest gremlin solved.
My 1984 Outrage 22 has the 129 gallon tank, so it's weight when full I imagine will be similar to your Revenge, though your Revenge will have better balance with the weight forward.
With a 15 pitch, 14 3/4" diameter Stiletto prop (I highly recommend it), I get 42 mph at 5600 rpm with a typical load. Not a speed demon, but holeshot is tremendous. Cruises at 3500-4500 rpm nicely. With the Stiletto (I've tried others) the boat comes alive and handles excellently, it responds like a much smaller, lighter boat. Best mileage at cruise (~3500-4000 rpm) is 2.1 mpg. Wide open you'll drop under 2.
