Hi All,

I have a 1968 and a 1965 classic 16's that I would like to repower. The original Whaler information lists the max HP at 100. Does anyone have experience or know if you can go higher than 100HP on these older models? I see a lot of newer Whalers with bigger power, but don't want to over do it. I was intially thinking 115HP for both.

Thanks for any help.

Thanks Joe.......the articel was very helpful. I'm amazed at the weight difference between the two stroke Mercury 90's and the Yahmaha's.

Theres also a definite power difference between the two with the Merc being much stronger from what I have seen from test reports. Both are great motors for a 16/17 and even a 15 hull IMO. You can still get both at the moment but won't be around much longer.
