I'm getting ready to order a Garmin 178c with the dual transducer. I have a choice of external or internal antenna.
Does anyone have experience with this? I seem to remember someone saying internal works fine, but I thought I'd check anyway.

If you are going to mount it on top of the console get the internal. If you plan to flush mount inside something get the external.

Thanks Jeff. It will be on top so I'll go with internal.
We've got so much shallow water here I've got to get a sounder/chartplotter soon.
That channels are hard to stay in when your moving and I drift fish too.
