For some reason, my engine (1984 185 hp Johnson) stalls when I try to take off after I stop for a few minutes.
I cruise along and every thing runs fine. I stop for 5 min. with the motor running. I try to take off, if I give it some gas and it boggs. If I let off, it idles fine. Give it the gas again and it boggs.
Then after a very short while, it runs fine and I can go on my merry way.
I was thinking maybe I have some kind of fuel flow issue. Anyone have any suggestions?
The motor runs great otherwise aside from a few misfires when I start it cold.
I'm still having this problem. Even when I turn the engine off, sometimes when I start up after a short time, my motor boggs when I give it the gas. Now, I just pump the gas a few times with it in gear and the motor startes running fine.
It seems like I had a similar problem before on one of my cars or motorcycles when the accelorator pump went bad.
Maybe I'll order some carb rebuild kits and see if I can solve this.
If anyone else has had similar problems, please share your ideas.
