I have in my posession a anchor locker which has been cut away from a spare 19 outrage top cap(an86carreras leftover cap from his low-pro project). I would like to see some pics of the latch, springs, hinges, etc so that i can try and duplicate these parts. I will be grafting this anchor locker onto my 21 Revenge to Outrage project. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I can set you up. My 1973 Outrage 19 has an anchor locker which is complete except for what I believe to be two C-Clips which must keep the door springs held onto the two posts which are mounted inside locker itself. I'll get some pics for you in a day or so. If you find the C-Clips (in stainless, I would imagine), I'd gladly buy a few from you.

Thanks and I might be able to help you out as I think those are some of the few parts that came with the doors. I won't miss them because I am not concerned with originality as long as they function and don't look too out of place.

oh baby, i have been looking for a post for the spring. i'm not clear on who needs what but if i'm reading this right there might be a post for the spring that holds the door open. if so, my project, 1974 19'ft outrage is at a stand still until i can locate the L shaped post.
i may have some trading power. i have extra hardware "original" from my 19' i may not be putting all of it back on the boat.

Regarding the L posts, call Joe Orlando in Kemah, TX (713) 254-2440 He does a lot of lo pro conversions of 1970's Outrages and may well have the L's from a cap he has removed.

Bob, sorry about the photos. My house got hit hard by a storm a day or so after my post, and I have had a list of TO DO's since then which has kept me away from my boat. I'll try to get the photos in the next week or so. My apologies...

Dragging up this year old post... Does anyone have any pictures of the anchor locker from 1 19/21 Outrage banana boat?

Both of my springs were busted. It looks like there are supposed to be some sort of latch mechanism to hold the doors closed? Mine are messed up.

My doors open up, then hit the bow rail. My rails are cut down, so I don't know if this is by design or a consequence of my railings being altered.

Ironically, in looking at this post... Joe Orlando is the guy who just finished my boat. His suggestion on the bow locker was to lose the bow rails altogether, screw one of the doors down and latch the other to it. Not factory.

Can I see how it's supposed to look?

Thanks!

I have an all original 19 Outrage, maybe these photos will help, at least with the hinge design.

I am going from memory, since the boat is 300 miles away, but I think the locker covers are held down by plastic stud latches. The covers are held open, in the perpendicular, 90 degree position by spring stiffeners, the kind you deflect in the middle and they release. This is one of the oldest applications I have seen of those devices, now readily available and used by Whaler for quite some time now. They are about 6" or 8" long when holding the covers open.

Soon I will take some detailed photos of all components in this facotry original boat, as they should be a lot of help to people doing restorations.
