About 18" in front of my power head (87 225 Johnson) there's a dual connector for both the VRO oil line and the fuel line, and it's also shown on the BRP exploded view and called "CONNECTOR, fuel and oil hose". It seems this is there to facilitate easy engine removal, but I'm wondering if it serves any other purpose (can't tell if there's check valves etc in there without opening it up) as I'd like to remove it from both lines and install new rubber right to the pump. In my engine manual it says that OMC recommends no connectors between the VRO primer bulb and the VRO pump, but this is in conflict with the diagram and what's there. Don't think it's a big issue if I remove it, but wanted to check first and see if anyone has an opinion as these seemingly simple things can sometimes come back and bite! Thanks,
