I was out today in a friend's 13 ft. Whaler powered by a 2003 Johnson 50 HP 2 stroke. He ran out of gas in one of his 6 gal. tanks and switched to a second. Almost immediately afterward, the engine would rev to high RPM's (he has no tach) and then stall. You could restart the motor, but could only motor along at a very slow pace or once you tried to increase speed, this incident would repeat itself.
Any thoughts on what is causing this problem? By the way, the first tank was a Moeller and the second was a Scepter, in case that helps.
Blocked intake tube, or bad hose fit, at tank connection to the hose. See if it does it with the other tank. be careful, a 13 ft is rated for a max. H.P. of 40, the boat is "Over powered"
