I had been watching that auction as that is one of the most original Sakonnets I have seen in a long time. Even the white bow platform looks untouched....
Didn't bid... just starting my search. This one scared me with talk of gelcoat falling off and fiberglass repair, without takeing a look at the repairs hard to make a call. Also, looking at the water line stain, it looks a little low.
Saw the 17 Outrage go for $4800 + change and it looked pretty solid, trailered with just a few minor dings.
Hey what size motor (max) is supposed to be on the 17 of this vintage?
100 hp is the max for that vintage. Wish I would have known you were looking for one. There was one in Milwaukee a couple weeks ago that went for $3000. Just up the road from the high speed ferry dock.
BTW I sent you a PM.

1993 23' Walkaround Whaler Drive
I've got a stepdaughter turning 12 in August next summer, the Mi magic number with course work to be able to drive a boat. So in reallity I have until spring 2009 to get her dial in.
If I do go as large as the 15 or 17 I'll have to jerry rig some sort of Hp reducer, ie throttle lock, to keep it slower for her mom to be happy. I've got a full set of tools and machine shop at my disposal, think I can makes that happen.
