Hi Guys,
I'm looking at a 2001 Honda 130 hp 4 stroke that has 91 hours. The boat is 18.5 ft. Should I be concerned about the electronics on a motor that is 14 years old. It has been under cover since day one. Any suggestions regarding points to check would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
I had that same motor. There is a group of them that are known to get a crack in the block. Google it and you can find the vin numbers that are affected. Also the main relay had a recall on some. If the main relay is bad the computer goes but is not under warranty. Honda will still covers the recalls I believe....
But 90 something hours is incredibly low for that age... I personally dont think it is good for anything to sit that long without being used...
Thank you bcoastal. I googled Honda 130 block & cylinder cracking and got the bad news.
You just saved me a lot of money and headaches. The seller had only owned the boat for 1 year and gave me a lame excuse for selling which made me suspicious but I was still thinking about buying.
Again, thank you.
