I'm looking into taking my new boat to fish Montauk this fall. Looking for info if anyone else has trailered a boat there. Where to launch, stay, fish, tackle? Any info is appreciated.

Thanks
Bill

(corrected typo in Montauk)

I don't think that there are any public ramps on the South Fork for non residents. Best bet it to call Star Island Yacht Club or the Montauk Yacht Club to see if they have a ramp or hoist that you could use.

How far out of the Lake are you planning to go?

I trailered my boat to Montauk this summer. You are going to want to use West Lake Marina as your base.
http://www.westlake-marina.com/index.cfm
There is a town ramp just around the corner from the marina but you need a town permit to use it, which the marina will supply for you. You will also need to use the Marinas parking as you cannot leave your car and trailer at the ramp. It's a two man operation. You'll launch the boat and one of you will drive the boat back to the marina and the other will drive the car and trailer back to the marina and hop on the boat there. If you are staying more than one day, you can also rent transient slips from the marina for a very reasonable price.
We stayed with friends but there is not shortage of rooms to fit any budget in Montauk.
It's a pretty painless procedure with handsome rewards, especially this time of year. Good luck.

I use Gone Fishng Marina, about 20.00 to launch . They open at 6 am I believe. They have limited parking and its a long way to back the trailer down. The ramp is in good shape. Good luck
