I recently acquired a 1965 Nauset in great condition. However I notice there are other screw holes in the deck and an outline. My first guess is the console and seat have been moved back about 6 inches from the original position. Could anyone tell me the original factory location of the console and helm bench seat? Please? Thank you very much!
I would like to order a canvas top from Mills and I am concerned their measurements may not fit correctly if my console is not in the right place.
Steve,
I'll get you the exact dimensions off my '63 tomorrow...
But I'm not surprised that the previous owner moved it back...
One needs to be a contortionist to do any kind of work in the console without removing the Seat and Steering wheel...
Check out the wood locating diagrams downloadable here for your boat...
Even moved back (or forward) a bit you're still into embedded structure....
But if you're a purist....

Steve,
Here goes...
The leading edge of the upper console (not the front seat) is 24" from the trailing edge of those little steps molded into the bow (just below the front well).
The leading edge of the non reversible pilot seat is 13" aft, of the trailing edge of the upper console....
Hope this helps....
