Kind of like a dream come true for some of us. I might be getting a job at the local Whaler dealer, wonder what kind of discount I can get on parts? Grin

Bob,

I guess if a person needs a job, working for a Whaler dealer would be the one I would want to...

Isn't WORK a 4 letter word?
I think JOBB should be a 4 letter word too....

Good luck and I hope it works out for you.

Bob, good luck. I will drop by to buy a part or two. I hope to take my new "old" Outrage to captiva pass this fall for snook fishing.

I ended up going with a custom offshore boat building job that was closer to home and more money. The Whaler dealer was unsure if he really wanted to hire anyone for the position and I think just low balled me on the pay. Would have been nice though, maybe in the future?

I will be doing a lot of the grunt work at first I'm sure. That will include sanding and fairing. I will also help lay up the boats in the molds and get into more involved procedures klike that. I have heard nothing but good things about the owner and am really aqnxious to learn another trade for my "can-do" list. I might just try and schmooze my 21 project into his shop for a total strip and repaint with awlgrip, instead of the waterline up job I was going to do at home.

Sound like fun to me. I would love to move down to the FLA and get a job using my skills designing boats. That was what I was planning on doing once I left Design school. Then life happened.

Good luck Bob!

BTW Have you seen these guys?

Yea I have seen those guys before and that looks like a fun job for sure! I'll let you know how it goes, maybe some pics of the next boat we build from the mold to the delivery.

Congratulations Bob, nothing better than getting a job focused on a hobby and something you like to do. Good Luck. BTW I just returned from Vaca in Naples. I wish I noticed your location sooner...
