I have a 1989 13' sport with a 1992 yamaha 40 hp. I need to get a new prop soon and was wondering what size and pitch others were running. My boat seems to run fine but I have nothing to compare it to. I have a 10 3/4' inch diameter but i can't read the pitch number. Also what top speeds are you getting? Thanks in advance
I have a Yamaha 40HP with 15P Blacksteel. I get 60km/h easy (but pretty much max too). With 4 adults and 3 10yo I still get 34 MPH out of the 13.4 SS.
I think I am very lucky with this setup as i have never heard of graetes speeds.
But if it is possible I would love to hear about it.
Todster4,
I don't know how the classics compare to the newer hulls but I have a 40 hp with a 13" pitch ss prop. It jumps on plane and holds it at a fairly slow pace. I get 40.3 mph at 5800 rpms. I tried a 15" but it was too fast to be safe at 45.1 mph and couldn't be steered at wot (at least not safely).
