and came home empty handed.

I've been looking for the elusive 17' Outrage I for a while & saw one just posted this week that's 500 miles away. I called the guy & talked, he sent pics and said that it was in great shape. Pics showed that too but when I got there so disappointed.... Patch up job on the hull, bottom paint repainted to original desert tan to match the rest of the hull, electronics does not work, etc.....

I want to post the link to this boat for others to see also but I'm not sure if that is OK or allowed. I know that the guy is not on this forum though.

Let the search continue.

Sounds like a good project. If the boat is cheap enough, it might be something good for someone else to tackle.

Flounder,

I was you 10 yrs ago. Here is my story.

If you are concerned about it being poached (it's happened), post a link to the photos only.

If you need help, email me off line.

Actually the boat was fairly price but I was concern about the integrity of the hull due to what looked like a patch up job to it so it was not worth it to me. It sold after I turned it down bc the ad on CL is no longer there. Let me post a screen shot of it after I load it up to photobucket.

Phil, great write up on your trip to get your OR I.

Same thing as Phil. Drove from Montreal, QC to Anderson, SC to pick up mine (2200 miles round trip, with all the associated border-crossing paperwork ), totally worth it: http://www.myfishingpictures.com/data...rage65.jpg.

I also get a ton of pics and had numerous exchanges with the owner prior to the trip. In fact, it wasn't even for sale! I was originally looking for a Montauk when Phil posted his Outrage 17 for sale. I wasn't quick enough to get it but that sparkled my interrest in that model and a couple of months later, I simply take a guess and contacted the owner of another Outrage 17 to let him know my interest in the case he ever think of selling it. As it turn out, he was thinking for a while to reduce the fleet so he agreed to sell it. Pure luck and timing I guess.

As Jeff once told me "don't despair, the rigth boat will find you". He also run a Facebook group that you may find interresting where the good finds that popped up are posted https://www.facebook.com/groups/rohlf...earchsite/.

Flounder,

Did you come to Wilmington North Carolina by any chance? I do know someone who had a 17 outrage for sale.

I went from Seattle to Orlando FL to get my 2000 16 Dauntless. I really wanted this model after researching pros and cons of the models in the size range I was looking for.
I had it shipped, but flew to look at it - everything turned out perfectly and it was worth the trip.
I'm still working on outfitting it, specifically trying to figure out best way to mount downriggers roughly mid-ship. If anyone has any ideas or pictures of good installations I'd I appreciate any advice.

Thanks

Flounder,

that may be a bit larger than what you were looking for but that seems like a really great deal, and right into your neighborhood:
