HI MY NAME IS JIM AND I AM A WHALER ADDICT.

My Son and I started boating about 5 years ago with a Bayliner, then after testing a few uncomfortable inflatables for harbor cruising we found a 13 BW. We had more fun in the 13 and ended up using it more than the Bayliner so we started searching for a larger whaler. We found an 18 outrage and while we didnt know it at the time we became whaler addicts. One day we came up with the dumb idea to sell the Outrage and buy a Skipjack. We sold the Outrage to the first guy that came to look at it and before it was gone I knew we had made a big mistake! Over the next few weeks we decided to sell the Skipjack and started searching for another whaler.

This was the point my wife started to become concerned. Is there a Whaler anonymous?

We are in Southern Ca and knew we wanted a larger whaler and we wanted an outrage. Our search started with a Justice, then a few 25s, a 20 and then we found this strange 1989 22 outrage with a cuddy, WD and lots of wood. The hull looked good and the overall condition was above average. Since we are addicts and we had never seen anything like it this odd whaler is ours.

Our new 22 is being repowered and refurbished. We hope to have it in the water very soon. Will post a few pictures soon. We enjoy this site and appreciate all the information and advice available to us.

How many Whalers does a person need to own before they are classified as an "Addict"?

Total Whalers or how many owned at one time?

Here are my prior Whalers including a 1989 Outrage 22' Cuddy

The only cure is more Whalers.

Joe,
After looking at your link I see you are addicted. Congratulations! This is my favorite addiction.
So, you sold the 22 cuddy rather quickly – did you not like it
I expect the ride of the 22 will be as good if not better then my 18 in chop. With a little luck we will be on the water next week.

It only took me one whaler to become addicted..really, i am not interested in any other boats when i peruse the boatyards...nothing else compares imho....i passed on a used 205 eastport this season..but still enjoying my dauntless imensely
guess i gotta try some other models like outrage etc to see what they feel like on the water

Congratulations on having a whaler addiction after only one..... I look at the other boats in the boatyards and sometimes feel sorry for those non whaler boat owners. I am testing different ways of transmitting the addiction to my wife and if successful I'll post the details. If you do "try" other BW models - use extreme caution as the addiction can be very powerful

Joe hit the nail on the head. I treat myself by just buying another Whaler. I bought my third Whaler this calendar year just last week.
