I have been very pleased with my Solas New Saturn 15" rigged by my dealer on my 1986 Montauk with F70. I was skeptical of Solas but tried it based on dealers recommendation and it has performed great. The prop has great grip and acceleration. The boat maxes at 38 mph which is a fast as any Montauk with a F70.
Yamaha Performance Series 13.25 x 14 prop, 38 MPH at 6200 RPM. Good hole shot, no ventilation on turns. Motor is mounted all the way up, 3 holes up. Very pleased.
(EDIT: boat is a 1999 Alert 17'. Classic 17' hull)
When hitting 38 mph my WOT rpm is 6200-6300. I have hit the rev limiter at 6400 by jacking the plate too high or trimming too much. I hit 39 mph once ridding the edge of the rev limiter in calm conditions.
This is of course lightly loaded. With the full family aboard and gear it goes down to 36 mph around 6000-6100.
I should also mention I have the motor mounted all the way up on the jackplate. Even fully jacked up and mounted high it still has good pressure and grip unless in a turn, very different from my old motor.
