Ok, top hitter on my list, electrical and seeing how much fuel i have. I've scanned the repair articles and haven't seen anything on the sight glass over the fuel indicator. Mine is yellowed to the point that i can't read anything, (i put in 20 gals this weekend to be on the safe side) but it looks like its rivited in, with a casing outside the plexiglass itself. So, to replace, should i just drill out the rivits and have a piece of plexiglass cut to fit, drill the rivit holes and screw in instead of re-riviting? Help is appreciated!
dang, think i lost the post i had on hold.... bottom line, Ouch, Ouch, Ouch, i should have known better that it was covered somewhere. I need to work on the search engines more so i miss less. Will contact and order a full set.
One same question and wasn't mentioned in thread, those are rivits that need to be drilled out.......... correct????
I solved the problem of the yellowed fuel sight glass by replacing the engine with a Yamaha that has the fuel guage built right into the instruments. Bet getting a new sight glass is a hell of a lot cheaper.
But ahh that Yamaha screams better than the old Johnson.
Ok, hope all my parts acquisitions are this simple. I called Beckson Marine and talked to the gent mentioned in the thread (Matt Reed), real nice guy and knew exactly what i was talking about. Was fixed up in just a few minutes but we continued to chat as i am originally from Conn and not far from his business. When it was all said and done, was invited for a tour of the place and lunch on him when i visit my family in Oct!! Price of the ring was $19.50 up a buck from 2005, but surely a bargin!
