Does it matter if your fuel line/primer bulb are not 100% tight?
By that, my primer bulb can freely rotate around the fuel line, but it doesnt leak, and my tank fitting is a bare hose on a brass nipple with a hose clamp, its an aluminum tank.
The second question is, what can cause a 2 stroke outboard to fail that is pre mix, besides over heating due to failed impeller or thermostat or obstruction.
And by fail I mean lower compression.
I just bought a 1999 johnson 50hp. Its premix 2 cylinders 2 carbs.
I assume, keep impeller sat, lower unit oil sat, spark plugs sat, fresh water run thru it after use on ear muffs, keep all fittings greased, and fog cylinders if i store it.
How can it fail if i pre mix it correctky everytime?
Do you know the maintenance on the engine prior to your purchase? Do you know the number of hours? Things wear out. Parts fail. Engines break. Excrement occurs.
I winter in Ft. Myers and summer in St. Joseph, Michigan. It’s now about 12 years since I’ve joined this group. I gave my 1972 whaler to my daughter and sold the 17’. Bought an O’Day 28 sailboat and sailed on Lake Michigan. Yesterday I bought a 2005 130 Sport.
