The twin transom-mounted 1989 OMC 150's have given their all; I'm now looking to repower with a single OB. Choices are limited at 300 HP, so I thought I'd look at lesser motors if I can determine that I won't be giving up too much performance. Top speed is not so important; ability to plane under moderate load is of greater concern.
Any and all thoughts and recommendations will be considered with appreciation. Thanks!
If your looking to repower with a single, I would suggest you look at the Suzuki 300 4-stroke. Suzuki has an outstanding reputation and the 300 seems to be doing very well. I haven't heard of any problems.
Its too bad your old 150's are not up to par. I considered repowering a few years ago but decided to keep my old motors. I've since put 500 more hours on them and they (1989 Johnson 150's) have worked great. Parts are cheap and I'm able to do most of the basic maintenence myself. Good luck.
