Does any one have any experience launching this type of boat off the beach? Are there any dollies manufactured to do this? I would be doing on relatively flat hard sand beaches. The main reason I am curious about a dolly is to get the boat into deeper water without sacrificing a vehicle to the Pacific Ocean. Any thoughts? I sat watching the ocean in near water skiing conditions yesterday with no way to get the boat in and out of the water.
Most trailers should get you in pretty easy if its low tide cause the shore line should have a steep enough drop for the boat to float.
High tend depending on the beach could provide to be a bit harder as the water tends to stay shallower for a greater distance, and waves could wash the vehicle out.
From all my experience on the beach, Quads (4 wheelers) have always been the best way to launch a small water craft such as a Montauk, Hobie cat, jet ski Etc..
Also be sure to deflate the tires some even though the dry sand is hard, chances are the the wet sand will give out alot more and could pose a situation of getting stuck.
Vehicles, bearings and sand: Keep in mind that vehicles, bearings and sand, DON'T MIX, sand gets INTO EVERYTHING, I saw a cop going onto the beach (Long Beach), and I asked how well the transmissions last on the 4x4 he was using, he said we go through about 4 transmissions a summer, my jaw hit the ground, he said "Hey, we gotta patrol the beach".
