a couple of pictures of the '68 16footer I looked at yesterday. The seller did not think the wood was original, but rebuilt by a previous owner. I haven't seen enough to tell. Of particular note are the rod holders set in wood. Although they look ancient, I can hardly believe they're original. They're throughbolted, BTW.
pics are here
I was amazed at how different the "blue" gelcoat was from the color of mine. (It could be seen at all the places the paint was peeled off!) It was really green. Awful green!

She's seen better days but has definite potential. Someone needs to see past the neglect, fall in love with her and bring her back to life. You looking for another project boat Dan?

I am. A 13 would be nice, or something bigger than the 17 I'm working on. I put a couple of Want To Buy ads in the local craigslist listings. I'm getting picky, though.... "once burned, twice shy"! Or an outstanding 17. (there is a reason why these hulls are revered! They're works of art!) I know a little better what to look for, now!

that wood is SHOT for sure, just about all has to be replaced. It is salvagable (I could'nt see the hull). I figured about a years worth of work. then to re-power, thats where it gets real expensive.

Dan,
I think those are outrigger mounts. A couple of those were mounted in the coverning boards of my Outrage 22 previous to my ownership.

Affirmative. Those are outrigger bases not rod holders.

AH! makes sense. The tubes are a little small for rods. Not OEM, though, right?
