Hi,
Shipyard just installed a New 150 4 stroke on my 2000 outrage 18. They are up to 6 props so far.
The last one tried was a Yamaha 13 3/4 x 17 3 blade alum. The rpms are 5200 with engine down and 5400 with the engine trimmed. Thats ok but they want to get it almost perfect. Really good shipyard. Question: does anybody out there have this boat and what prop do you run. I want to get it right with the alum. before I change to a S.S. at the 20 hour check
Thanks

I would suspect the engine is mounted too low, as a start. Almost every boat dealer/yard mounts engines 1 hole up. Typically engines on Boston Whalers perform close to ideal when mounted 2 or 3 holes up. E-TEC motors perform ideally when mounted all the way up.

Upper Bolt Holes
Top
0 <---- All the way down
0 <-----1 hole up
0 <-----2 holes up
0 <-----3 holes up

You will get the best overall performance ditching the aluminum prop NOW. The blade geometry is slightly different even with the same brand and size. Yamaha makes decent props so you don't need to change brands.
