I'm a proud new owner of a 1972 sport. I'm the third owner. The original owner was a minister from Whitestone, VA (who only ran it to church on Sundays......couldn't resist Smile) and the second owner only had it for 2 years.

The hull is excellent shape and still has all the original woodwork (painted over in white). Looks like I'll be a frequent visitor to this site as I work to restore her back to her glory.

Question, while I have no internal storage at my disposal, I'm looking for a cover to keep the elements off. It will be stored on a lift when not totally out of the water. Any recommendations on manufacturers that specialize in custom covers for this model? The best I've found so far is a place that will do a cover for 1972 specs but only w/rails - I'm w/o rails.

Any sources would be appreciated and would also consider buying something used.

Thanks,
BAY2SAV

For a proper fit, the best bet is to visit a canvass maker. They can custom fit anything, it is NOT super expensive. What fits better ? a suit off the rack at "Penny's", or one from the tailor ? The 13' and 15' Sport models are great boats, unfortunatly from the view of trying to cover them, they seem to have the shape perfectly resembling that of a "Bath Tub" to catch rain water. I leave mine open, my fingers crossed that the auto. bilge is working (hey it can't sink), and hope for the best. It's the "SUN" that beats up my "Bright work", I refinish it every 3-4 years or so completely, while trying to convince myself that I love to work on wood. I can make my wood look like a "Jewelry shop" but, to me, it always seems it should look better for the amt. of labor that I put into it. It is a "Whaler" and it is used like one, fish guts, scuffy shoes, etc. all over my pretty locker cover, who cares, we're Havin FUN fishing !
