Nice to see their 115 dropping 24lbs while gaining a bit of displacement.

That F115B looks awesome...I should have predicted the improvements, I bought a F-115LA last year :) Maybe I can get a good trade-in....

Do you fellows trust prototypes of new advancements in outboards? Is the new "B" series just a modification and improvement of the "A" series. I talked with a friend this a.m. and he has been talking about getting a new motor for his Montauk.

I don't think we have enough information on the F115B to really know if this is an evolution of the F115A, or a new design.
A 375# engine seems a bit heavy for a Montauk.

I was getting ready to pull the trigger on the current F115 and Yam has come through with the B variant. This will be the perfect match for the 170 that I currently am planning to repower. Off to Miami boat show next weekend to check it out. I think I will wait for the shipment 2nd qtr. Should be worth it!

375 pounds is significantly lighter than the standard equipment Mercury 90 FourStroke that the Montauk 170 comes with which is 400 pounds.

The F-115 B is a completely different engine, bigger displacement, different head design, will work with command link, etc. etc.
I don't think we have enough information on the F115B to really know if this is an evolution of the F115A, or a new design.

This is a Yamaha. I like 'em. I would, WILL and DO, "trust" 'em :)

Best power-to-weight ratio in its class

The prototypes have come and gone. This new motor will be available for purchase in June, which means production has already begun.

"A 375# engine seems a bit heavy for a Montauk."
At this point in the thread, I had assumed classic Montauk. Sorry

375 pounds on a classic montauk is a lot but still well below the recommended 410 pound transom weight limit.
It's ironic that Yamaha is going to be offering a 115 HP four stroke outboard that is 25 pounds LIGHTER than Mercury's 75 HP four stroke and about that same weight as Mercury's 75 HP two stroke. Mercury has a LOT of catching up to do.

Just back from Miami show. Lots of improvements with this motor over current. Yam will start shipping in June. I am waiting and buying one for my 170. Will post pics once I get chance.

Numbers look promising. How about twin (not looking for twin vs single discussion) re-power for classic 22' Outrage? Opinions?

780 pounds is W A Y too much weight for the transom of an Outrage 22, especially the 1978-1988 hulls with the wraparound splashwell.

Wow that new 115 looks like a phenominal outboard.
- When was the last time the F90 was redesigned?
- Im wondering if yamaha would ever come out with a 100hp outboard again (offered in the US).
Maybe the market is all about 90's and 115's.... It would be fun to think about a redesigned lighter yamaha 100 on the transom of a Whaler classic 16/17.
