Just bought a 1978 BW Revenge with Cuddy Cabin to fix up and fish on Lake Michigan.........seems to be in good condition but marine mechanic says engine is seized. Of course, he is willing to replace it but mentioned that there were problems with the stern drives of that era. What should I do??? Buy or rebuild an OMC 165? Glass in transom and start over with a Volvo/Penta or a MerCruiser? Extend the transom and hang one (or more) outboards?? My simple '69 17' Katama with the "bullet-proof" 1974 85hp Evinrude is looking better, and cheaper, all the time!
I'd appreciate any/all suggestions from you seasoned vets.
