Presently use mercury/quik silver premium 2 cycle oil in my Mercury 2003 115. Due to availability switching to mercury/quik silver synthetic. Do I drain premium from oil reservoir before using synthetic or just add synthetic oil in to reservoir 1/2 full of premium? thanks in advance
"When switching oils, Mercury recommends running the reservoir down as much as possible (25% or less) before adding oil of a different type. Certain oils do not blend together as well as others and running the reservoir down prevents any issues that may arise. For your 115 hp outboard, Mercury recommends using either Mercury Premium Plus 2 cycle oil or Mercury DFI 2 cycle oil. Mercury Premium blend is primarily recommended for smaller carbureted 2 cycle motors or motor where premixing gas/oil is necessary."
