Will this trailer (for 11' 15' Sport) fit my 1996 15' Dauntless?
Looking for a trialer for a 1996 15' Dauntless, checked out this trailer which had a 2011 150 Sport on it, just want to make sure it will fit before I purchase? Anyone have any thoughts, my concern is that the bunks have minimal adjustment capability (maybe 2" of adjustment either way based on the pre-drilled holes on the cross beams).
Hello Chiguy79, I don't think this trailer is going to work with the Dauntless 15. There isn't sufficient height adjustment for the bunks. That trailer is better suited for a Whaler Classic or Sport (type hull) that has a less pronounced bow "v" and the running surface is a bit flatter as you move towards the stern/transom.
The Dauntless 15 has a different running surface that requires proper support and clearance on a trailer.

I have my 1988 15' Super Sport sitting on the exact same trailer.
It is a nice, quality trailer.
The bunks aren't adjustable in the traditional sense. As you saw, they are adjustable to the left and right among about 5 positions per side (in probably 1" increments or so). That should provide enough side-to-side adjustment.
The brackets that hold the bunks allow the bunks to angle back and forth to match the hull profile. Those same brackets are what give the bunks their height. They are replaceable, though I couldn't find the parts on Karavan's web site tonight.
I bought my trailer new, from a Whaler dealer. It had shipped with a 150 Montauk on it, and the Montauk owner didn't need/want it for whatever reason. I needed a little extra height on the bunks to make the bow ride in the right spot for the winch/bow roller. Karavan sold (and shipped) me taller bunk brackets (I think they called them "Bunk Weldment"). I think they had them in about 4 taller sizes than what came standard on the trailer.
I got the 5" brackets for the front, and left the back ones (2") alone. I may reinstall the original ones from the front (3" I think) on the back one of these days and see how it works.
Their customer service folks in the parts department are pretty helpful if you call: 920-928-6200 Option 3
I'd be surprised if you couldn't get that set up pretty easily.
That said, you are in Missouri right? Thats a long way from Ft. Myers, and that trailer isn't priced a whole lot less than what you could probably negotiate a new one for in Florida (it does look perfect though).... Have you priced a new one in Missouri? I bought mine in California where boat trailers are stupid expensive. I sold my functional 1988 trailer for not much less than this guy wants for his new one.
