my louvered doors (2) on the console of my 18 were in pieces (some missing) on the deck of my whaler when I got it.
I just finished a jig to cut the recesses for the louvers in the rails of the doors, it took a long time to make the jig but it works well, if you need louvered doors let me know I can tell you how to make the louver jig, or make the rails for you out of mahogony or whatever.
Pete,
how about doing a short writeup on how to make the jig, possibly with pictures. I bet lots of folks will need this info at some point, just not right now.

I have been toying with the idea for a while now. Especially since I have a good private stock of teak. The main reason I haven't is because of the time consuming nature of building a jig for a one off production.
I would be more interested in trading a certain quantity of teak for new doors.
I will take pictures of the jig this afternoon/this weekend.
To use the jig you need a plunge router. I haven't actually made the doors yet.
I know that Norm Abrams on New Yankee Workshop builds a different Jig for doing the same thing in his "Teak Bar" project, but didn't feel like laying the money out for his plans, and/or waiting to happen to catch that episode on tv.
When I am done (probably next weekend) making the doors I will post pictures of a finished product. It probably wouldn't take much time to make another one. I am making mine out of mahogony as teak is about 10X as expensive.
