I have a 60 Yamaha hp 2 stroke on my 15 ft sport. It has worked great. But, it may be done and I understand Yamaha no longer can sell 2 strokes in the USA.
Need power out of the hole to pull skiers. And, need high reliability because we are 2 hours from good engine repair shops etc.
So, what engines do you recommend?
I tried a neighbor's 60 4 stroke Yamaha on their 15 ft Sport. It seemed skittish in high seed turns. I am concerned that the extra weight is causing the bow to be a bit high and to lose traction in turns.
......any thoughts/advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

You can check the Current Model and Weight here:

A good lightweight choice for a 70hp would be the Yamaha F70
Another good choice might be the E-Tec 60hp
Maybe others will give you their recommendations.

Imagemix,
Just for reference,
The 15' Super Sport
http://www.whalercentral.com/userphot...lbum_id=44
is 320 pounds lighter then the
150 Super Sport models.

Can't really compare the 2 different hulls as they have different weights and different hull designs.
Would be good to know how your 2010 Super Sport 150 does with the new E-Tec 60hp on it.
Let us know.

What extra weight? The F60 is a good deal lighter than the OMC 60s and 70s that were originally installed on many 15s. Even the F70 is slightly lighter than those motors.
In any event it is unlikely the 20 additional pounds of the F60 relative to your current motor makes much difference.

I put a F70 on my 15 in June 2010. Best boating equipment decision I have made.

crbuckjr,
Also a good idea to let us know the year of your Whaler when asking questions.
Is this what you have?
