Greetings,

I am just wondering if anyone in the group has experience boating in/around Long Beach, Calif.
My Whaler is there and I am just looking for any advice/tips.

Cheers,
Ronnie

Nice boat!

I have a 1968 Nauset and a 1970 13ft sport.

I am in Newport. If you have any questions PM me.

Cheers,
Vamanos

I used to cruise and fish inside the breakwater and all the marinas that were there back then. with my 13' Sport.

I also used to fish outside the breakwater a few miles and cruise down to Huntington Harbor and see all the boats and homes there fishing along the way.

Things have changed since I have been there so I can no longer vouch for what you can do.

Lots of areas to fish in the harbor, oil islands, breakwalls and drifting deeper holes in the harbor for halibut. It can be bumpy at times, lots of people boating and service boats pushing and pulling things so stay alert. I fish my 1987 17ft montauk there a few times a year and always have fun. Allways have better luck fishing along the walls on the outside.

Very sweet Eastport! I see you are across from Mother's beach.
I put my 13 in there and am currently rebuilding a 16-7 that belongs to the Sea Scouts across the way.

You will never run out of things to do in LB and Alamitos Bay. A runs to the Island should be in your plans too! Speed runs around the Ski loop are always fun too and in the harbor.

Dennis, Thanks for the info. Will try my luck fishing tomorrow. So far I've gone a 3 times and have not caught anything. Whatever happened to beginner's luck? :/

Blake, Great job on your 13'! Yes, I launch out of Davies Ramp even on the weekends never too crowded. Last weekend took my kids kneeboarding in Marine Stadium.

Just took my Dauntless 15 from Long Beach to Two Harbors last weekend. Spent Saturday night at the USC Wrigely Research Center and came back Sunday.

I just purchased an 18 Dauntless. Looking forward to taking similar trips this summer. Have you ever camped there? And did you moor your boat at Two Harbors? How does that work?

Thx.

Sorry about the delayed reply. I have camped there but not with my boat. We usually kayak into the camping spots. I do see some that come with boats. I've moored at Two Harbors but usually stay at the USC Wrigley Center (I'm working on a research project). Feel free to ask me any related questions.
