Having problems with the trim and tilt button. When I puch the button for the motor to go up. It does, but if I push it the second time to go up, the motor will go all the way down and stay down. I have to turn off the power at the batteries and then push the up button once to get it where I want it. Can anyone tell me what's going on. I'm spooked.

What year?
Does this model have the trim switch on the engine along with the trim switch on the console or controls?
Sounds like it may be a switch problem...
If you have both switches, do both of the switches have the same problem?

Yes! Bith switches have same prolbem. What do you think? Could it be a switch?

Just to clarify Key-z, the motor is on the way up the first time you use the up switch and you let go of the switch before the motor reaches the top and it stops. The second time you use the trim switch for up right after that, the engine goes all the way down, are you holding the up switch all that time as the motor goes down or do you release it and the motor still goes all the way down on its own?
Now, if the motor stops when you release the up switch the second time, what happens when you try it a third time? And what happens if you try the down switch the second time instead of the up switch?

Key-z,
If both switches are having the same problem, then it is not likely both switches are bad.
I would think it is more likely to be one of the relays...
Buy one relay and try it in both places on the board. Relays aren't that much and you would have a spare if that doesn't cure the problem...

Pull one of the relays and take it to the local auto parts store, if it's like mine it's a common one and is short money. Get two if they're cheap enough, could be a very easy fix.

I checked the wiring diagram for my engine and it appears to be a standard relay, hopefully yours is the same. I've seen it used in fog light, back up light, window control, etc in automobiles. If you take the relay with you, they can pull the number off it and let you know if they have it. Well worth a try anyway, and I think you may be surprised.

Thanks for checking. I would love to do that right now but my boat is parked in the Keys. I'll pull it off over the weekend and take it to NAPA or other auto store.

BTW Key-Z, my power trim stopped working yesterday in mid motion, wouldn't do anything. So I pulled the cover and opened the trim box in the power head and there they were, two standard Bosch automotive relays. Did the trick. Hopefully you were as successful!

Yup! That was the problem. I didn't have the time so I asked my local marine mechanic to go by the house and check. He didn't have the part handy at the time, so he just disconnected the wire to the switch at the power head. The new relay should now be installed on the boat along with a float switch for the bilge pump in the sump.
