I'm just trying to get a genral idea of what I should expect for fuel mileage.
Our guardian is a little damp (heavy) but has a clean bottom and gets right up on a plane. Since we've had the boat we've only gone on short outings (an hour or so) and with a 65 gallon tank we usually top her off once the tank mounted Rochester float gauge gets below 1/2.
Even though the the gauge is not that accurate, I'd like to think that we should be good for 4 to 5 hour fishing trip with an hour or so running at 4K rpms to get to the grounds then trolling a bit. The original owner removed the VRO so it's also a hassle adding oil and making sure to get the correct mix. Eventually I plan to reinstall the VRO.
We had it out last weekend and it ran pretty well, on plane she seems to like 4K rpm. I understand that every boat is different but would appreciate a general idea of the gph for an older 2 stroke Evinrude 150.

I think I found what I was looking for... There was post on the Hull Truth saying that the range for a 1994 carb. model could range between 7 - 15 gph depending on speed and sea state. The 15 gph was on a Grady white loaded with 4 fisherman, which I would guess to be a bit heavier than my 18' Whaler.

Well we made it out an back with fuel to spare... this boat came with two OMC SS props and both had few knicks. Took both of them to the prop shop to find out which one to true up. The guy was pretty cool and asked how the boat performed with the one I'd removed. Told him it ran OK but was slow to get up on plane - suggested going to other prop because it had less bite but we would lose some top end speed. I was fine with that and now the boat gets right up and seems to run nicely @ 4K rpm. Very pleased with the way she's running now. Going to try and run as much of last years fuel out as I can before refilling.
