I have a parker/racor pff5510 filter for my outboard. Im wanting to replace this one and the inline filter inside the cowling..i have scoured the internet looking for the upper part that the separator filter screws into, but i cant find one to match. Is there a universal replacement for these things,or would one of the high-tech looking ones with the bowl on the bottom to drain out the water work just as well? Motor is a 2003 2-stroke 150 Suzuki
Hello Gooch, as PhilT mentioned Sierra offers fuel/water separator packages at fair pricing.
What you must check is the filter mounting thread that you want to use with the Head mount unit. The most common threads are 11/16"-18 and 1"-14.
The Head mount units can be purchased separately and they are offered in (black or white) powder coated Aluminum or straight Stainless Steel. The Stainless model is a bit heavier so be certain that the install location is adequate.
Besides the name brand kits (Racor, Moeller Marine and Sierra) one other company that offers a filter/clear site bowl w / head mount package is Marpac Marine priced well and they use a Racor filter to boot.
Do some on-line comparison for your own piece of mind. 11/16 is the typical filter thread size used most.
