Went and looked at the BW ski boat today that is listed on ebay.
(removed dead link)
The motor block is cracked due to freezing over the winter. Talked to a mechanic friend (not a boat guy) and he told me that he remembers that a "regular" chevy 350 might not work in a boat because the rotation is reversed. True?
Anyway, the folks have done a good job with the listing... the pictures tell the story very well. Needs work in addition to the motor, but could be a great boat.
Since it's only a few miles from my house, I had to take a look. I'm going to pass on it, but if anyone is interested, you are welcome to PM me with any questions. I'll PM you back with my phone number if you like. The auction ends tomorrow (Father's Day).
Quality dual axle trailer (a little banged up) sonar, stereo, VHF, all records, manuals, etc. Over $22000 new in 1986. No canvas.
People are very nice. I didn't discuss this, but they might be OK with some delay to pick it up... it's in their back yard, as long as payment was right away.
There are reasons why a car engine is not a good fit for marine use but it is not because of rotation. they do not use left rotation motors anymore. You can marinize a car engine but usually easier to buy a boat engine.
