Help IDing my Mercury 40h

Member Personal Page Posts: 172 Comments: 0 Joined: 02/11/09	I just bought a 13 ft Sport 1975 and there is a older Mercury on the back. I wrote down the serial 5482295 but to my suprise I can not find my model and year on any of the charts online. The only other clue I can offer is its 2 cycle and there is a sticker on the front that says "thunderbolt ignition" I think. Anyways, can anyone help me identify my make and model and year? I need to find a new wiring harness that goes from the starboard side of the motor to the side mounted controls. Kyle in Florida

You can also determine and check your model year by matching the decals. http://www.nymarine.ca/index.htmlindex.html Cross checking here, and withouit seeing the engine decals, the information you were given appears to be correct.

In turn Id like to share a site called oldmercs.com It is where I found a external wiring harness for my 1979 Merc. This harness goes from the cowling to the battery an up to the controls. If anyone needs a wiring harness for thier Ole Whaler Sport 13 40 horse merc, this site has them and they are original not after market.
