I'm restoring my 1974 montauk 1 I recently had the hull weighed at 980 pounds. I do have concerns of it being filled with water. I really haven't found a definitive weight for the hull new. Does anyone know what a bear 16 foot hull should weigh?

The 1974 Boston Whaler catalog lists the Sakonnet/Montauk as weighing 770-900 pounds. I presume the 770 is for the Montauk model, but may not necessarily be that precise.

So yes, your hull may have some water in it.
