Just wanted to drop in and say I just picked up a nice 1979 17 Montauk, that looks like most of its life has been in fresh water. Has a loud 1983 2 stroke Johnson on it and have no idea how many hours are on it. I am in the process of filling some holes on the transom, and other places from 34 years of other peoples hardware. Using West Systems epoxy and some spectrum gelcoat. Going to remove some old electronics and upgrade as well as. Going to run the 2 stroke for a little bit and then may upgrade to something else. Boat is clean with a couple blisters and a few dings, but other than that the hull looks dry and sound. The trailer is getting some new lights and rollers and bunks on the and then I am going to hit the water. This is my 5th boat or so, but first whaler. I put a couple of pics in my personal page, so go there to take a look.
