Well after a year of restoring my 13 ' 6 " Whaler today was the maiden voyage. She's a early 70's hull with a 1987 Johnson 30 hp outboard. I bought the boat , motor and trailer for $600.00 but as you can imagine she needed some work. I had no idea about the engine condition other than the seller said it ran great and it wasn't frozen. Lots of sanding , priming and painting. So today my wife and I took her out for the maiden voyage. We're in Georgia and went to Lake Alatoona which is a very nice lake. Everything went as planned and she fired right up. Idled out of the park that we launched at and then hit the throttle. That 30 Johnson sprang to life and ran perfect ! For a little boat she zipped along just fine with the 2 of us and was very stable. It's been about 20 years since our last boat so my wife and I were having a ball just bombing around on the lake. We are really going to enjoy this little boat.
