motor quits when put ingear

Tom, isn't that potential runaway condition specific to two-strokes? Revving a motor to redline with no load doesn't seem very smart anyway - and it doesn't tell you anything, as the original poster found out. Tim

But again, if you provide more information, such as when it was last running OK and what happened since then, someone might be able to help. Otherwise it's just a guessing game.
