In another thread, I received a recommendation to use a Stiletto Advantage 13 1/4 X 15 propeller on my 1986 custom 15. I purchased a used Stiletto 21315 that was identified as OEM 0763929 on eBay. When I tried to install the prop on my 1992 Evinrude 60, it seems like the prop hub is too short and the end of the hub is below the threads on the propeller shaft. Since I am a newbie, I am concerned with the play on the propeller shaft.
Is a little bit of play normal on a propeller shaft or did I buy the wrong propeller? Is there something missing that would take up the play on the propeller shaft? I was not able to look up the engines that Stiletto 21315 fits on the internet but was able to find my engine listed under the OEM number.
21315 and 0763929 are completely different propellers. Which one do you have?
21315 is the old style Stiletto Advantage I hubbed to fit an OMC motor like your 1992 Evinrude 60.
0763929 is a 13-7/8" x 15" BRP Viper which may use a press-in rubber hub or a field-replaceable drop in hub kit like the BRP TBX.
Regardless of which propeller is used, there should be a splined plastic spacer washer that goes on the propeller shaft after the propeller but before the washer, propeller but and cotter pin.
The propeller that I have is a Stiletto with 21315 on the hub. Based on your description what I am missing is the splined plastic spacer. Is this a generic part that I could pick up at a local marine supply store or does it need to be ordered?
