I will have a 1977 15' sport for sale in the next week or so...reason not available now is because all of the mahogany is being completely refinished. Whats done so far looks exceptional. Boat has a 1999 Yamaha c60 outboard that runs like its new. Bottom was painted, new rub rail was put on, new steering cable installed, trailer was painted, and boat was detailed. The trailer is a Cox bunk style with a break-neck. Boat has the normal spider cracks seen on older Whalers but not that many of them. They were so minor that they came out or at least are less noticable now that the boat was compound and waxed. Overall condition of the boat is excellent for the year. I would compare it to the one that is shown in the year/model index. I was wondering what type of price I should be asking for the boat, I figured if anybody would know it would be you guys...Thank you

I also have an old 15 Sport and I can't wait to see what kind of answers you get.....I put so much sweat into mine that I'm not sure that I could sell it regardless of the price and if I were to give you my opinion it would probably be extremely high. I would hate for someone to come along and offer me a lot of money for mine, because it would show just how dumb I am for turning it down, regardless of the offer. Sad

I don't think I could sell mine either, we've been through too much together and it always brought me back safely, and helped out other boats in distress too, the 15' is NOT a "Stand up" boat like the 17' is but, the Hull design for all whaler's starts at the 15' for that era design. It's a "Sit down" style boat (much like the 13'), it's just a bit more roomy, and cuts a wave better than the 13' (for that design era), mine is a 1976, the first year of production for the 15' "Sport". I like it because it can be totally overhauled in my driveway, using hand tools, you will have no problem getting a buyer for that boat, my problem is that I live on a main road, people see it in the driveway and keep leaving me notes, ringing my bell, and asking if it's for sale (While I am cutting the front lawn).

I had to laugh when you mentioned people always wanting to know if it's for sale. I find notes constantly inquiring about it and I guess this was the compliment of all compliments. One guy had his 15 advertised on Craig's List. I was browsing and looked at it and he is displaying a picture of my boat in his ad! Not sure what condition his is in and not sure what's going to happen when prosepective buyer's come to look at it! Go figure on that one! Shock Maybe showing them mine is his way of getting them to come see it.
