Hi all; I have a 1993 Johnson 150 and every time I go out, I get no oil alarm at least 3 times during a 20-30 minute ride, all I have to do is shut the motor down and restart and the alarm is gone. Normally does it at around 3-4K RPM, last time out, did it at idle for the 1st time. I have heard about the VRO but I would think that if it was bad, it would not work at all.
When VROs fail it usually over-oils, not under oils. That said, have you checked oil lines for leaks? Pulled the screen from the oil tank to see if the filter sock is clogged or if there's water in the bottom of the oil tank?
Thanks for the info, I will check the hoses and filter, the tones I am getting are not continuous, they are about every 2-3 seconds when running at 3-4K RPM, I shut the motor off the second I hear it so I am not sure if it goes continuous when at idle or not.
I will let you know what I find.
Thanks
