Hi there, i realize this may be blasphemy to some here, but i would like to install an aluminum grab rail on my 13 whaler 1968 hull. I have just patched and painted it, and it is powered by a 25hp etec tiller steer, i would like to add the grab rail to stand and cruise with the tiller extension. I plan to use the boat mainly for flats fishing. the standard bench seats are still there, i would like to add this rail aft of the forward bench seat.....

The problem i am facing is the floor is not level as most of you know, and the fiberglass alone is not strong enough to screw the rail mounts into without reinforcement, im afraid the leverage will just rip it out of the floor if i mounted it directly to the floor.
any suggestions? I was considering making a wood base that i would epoxy and screw to the floor, then bolt the u-bar to the base?
