WOO-HOO, I was finally able to take my 1972 13 Sport to the local lake today for the first shake down trip since the hull repairs and new paint. She also got a new SS Destroyer type steering wheel, new Rotech UFlex Helm and steering cable and her trailer has new tires, wheels and bearings, as well as a paint job and guide on posts. Photos will be added to personal page soon.

It was great to get her on the water today for the first time in over two years. The motor was a little finicky, but at least she ran. At full throttle she would run well for a few minutes and then begin to die, after a couple of times like this I tried pushing in the key to activate the electric choke and she would not die.

I'll have to work on this, but this trip to the lake will certainly be followed by more trips soon. Yeah, I'm Happy, Happy, Happy!! Smile

sounds like the carbs need a clean out, make sure you blow it through with an airline and it will be fine.
the full throttle then dying sounds like float bowl emptying faster than filling, just a simple bit of dirt if its fuel.
Just make sure its not over heating and causing a semi sieze to kill the engine, might be time for a new impellor.

anyway good luck and glad you have had a run with your whaler.
look forward to pics.

p.s i also have the destroyer wheel on my boat, they look nice and even feel nice.

Are there any pictures of the finished product? The personal web page is "private" and cannot be viewed, and the personal page shows the "before" pictures.
