I'm in the process of resurrectng an early 1960's model Evinrude LightTwin as a possible kicker for my Whaler. After cleaning the junk out of the carb. bowl and fuel lines it started with just a few pulls and ran smoothly for 30 or so seconds. Then it abruptly died. No coughing. No running rough and then dieing. It just abruptly stopped running. I popped a bit of ether in the carb to no avail. I removed a spark plug and shot some ether in the cylinder w/o affect. I checked the spark and found none. I removed the flywheel and found no helpful visual clues. The only out of the ordinary item was where one of the coil-packs (it has 2) had touched the inside of the flywheel (don't recall the proper name for that part of the flywheel). Neither spark plug is getting fire. I'm thinking that a ground wire might have come loose or have contacted something and grounded-out the system; a visual inspected revealed no such circumstance. Any information as to expected readings on an ohm meter test or where continuity would be expected to exist would be helpful. Any ideas as to where to look next? Thanks for the help.

If you can't play hurt....stay home.

I have a 25hp I think it's called a "sportwin" that needs to go out of my garage. I think it is a 1968. It was my brother in law's. It was running great before the prop shaft seal went. If you want it or any parts let me know.

Did you make sure to ground the spark plug while checking for spark?
